Allstate Auto Insurance review

In this article, I will share with you my own personal experience with Allstate. I came to know about Allstate from a classmate who sold me his own car. He told me that all state gives good discounts and they are respected company. Since I did not know much about car insurance, I decided just to get any car insurance as soon as possible.

I did go to DMV with him, and transfer the car to myself and next day, I called allstate insurance agent asking him for a quote. When I called him, I gave him my name, address, my car make and model, and a little more details like how frequently I will be using the car and so on. The agent told me that he is going to call me back once he finalize the 6 months quote.

Within 30 minutes, the guy called me and he asked for 400$ for 6 months liability insurance. I was quite surprised since the guy I bought the car from told me that he was paying $200. I explained that to him, and he told me that he can get me good student discount and discount for using the car less than 6000 miles per year. Good student discount requires you having GPA above 3.0, which is fairly easy. That’s all save around $100, I was happy but I was wondering why that guy pay way less. I asked, and the insurance agent told me that I live in Downtown Los Angeles, and that makes the insurance more expensive since they chance that my car is involved in car accident is higher in downtowns.

Any way, I was happy since I have a car and now I can do shopping using my car rather than my old bicycle. I paid for my car around 1600 USD, It was quite old car, but really perfect for a poor student.

Nice months after buying the car, I was coming from work and getting ready to go to school. I did find parking spot on S Catalina St Corner near my school (USC). I did park my car, and went to attend my lectures. Once I am done, I talked with my Indian friend and we decided to go for dinner together.

We went to my car and I found that some one had hit it from behind. The car rear light and the bumper were in bad shape. I was happy to find a note from a woman on my car. I called her, and she gave me her policy number and the claim number. She was so rude; she even did not say I am sorry. Anyway, I called my state and I gave them the claim number. AllState agent gave me an appointment to one of their offices to do estimation for my car damage. I went, and he looked at the car, and started writing notes. It took him over 15 minutes while he was inspecting the car. Then, he told me that they may give me the car price and they take the car. I was quite shocked since I thought that is a minor problem.

Then, the estimator went to his office and start doing calls. After 1 hour he came and he gave me a check of $1550, and he told me that I can use that money to fix my car. Wow, I was surprised. I went to Autozone, I bought a light for $60 and I changed it by myself and kept the money for myself.

Yes, All state Auto insurance paid me, and they were nice and friendly with me. Honestly, I would recommend them since they have reasonable prices and nice service.
